Is this what you Southerners call BBQ? I'm flat out confused, and I think I need a little explanation, even perhaps a Q&A with locals to really find out what the food in these parts is all about (after you take away the chains and leave the real authentic local stuff behind). Came here after a local recommended it, and like most places around here, this is a buffet (again, mystified here, buffets everywhere in these parts!) The atmosphere, service, the place, even the buffet line is very down home-cooking with a very local vibe. Interior has seen better days (bordering on dive-esque) and some chairs were literally on their last legs. One long one-sided buffet line that moves at a halfway decent pace. A lot of Callabash offerings (again, not a fan of fried Southern seafood), with the oysters coming out on top, fried chicken (crunchy, tasty, moist), hush puppies (without a doubt, the best item on that buffet) and pulled pork (which appeared to really be the only true BBQ offering on that whole line) with a selection of four to five different sauces (which most are on the vinegar-y side, with one that seemed to be mustard-based). Like most buffets and places around here, the vegetable options are few and far in between, unless you count cream corn as a vegetable. Other home-y sides, with rice, mashed potatoes, gravy and a sad iceberg lettuce salad station. A couple dessert options (banana pudding, sliced vanilla cake) round it off. Again, like most places around here, buffet is incredibly affordable and portions are limitless. Personally, I'm not a fan of the barbecue this place offers, nor am I a fan of the vinegar-y base and the vinegar-y sauces. However, the food served here was one of the better places we came across in our time here - just overall, not my thing - Must be a local thing.

Great southern food/comfort food buffet. Nice change for when your a little tired of the steak and seafood options. However, we loved the FRIED OYSTERS. The best we've ever had. The stars: mac and cheese, chicken and dumplings, Italian style green beans, sweet potato casserole, and baked pineapple. Lots of other good items but those were our favorites. I'm an eastern North Carolina BBQ fan and the pork, sauces, and slaw were just ok. It's SC so not a big deal. I'm quite happy with all the other selection. So so desserts but with all the yummy dinner selections, who has room anyway??

This place is no Taj Majal, but I wasn't looking for that. If you wanty down home Southern country cooking at a great price then Prossers is where it's at! I loved the mac and cheese and beans. The price is right and although I can't eat like this all the time, I enjoy when I travel down South with my family.

This is the locals lunch spot so get there early if you want a table. Amazing food! I love their maccaroni and cheese, greens, pulled pork, pork rinds - OK - I loved it all! Their sauces are on the buffet line not at the table so don't forget to grab them while up there because trying to cut in to get it after you walk away might get you hurt. Seriously - these are working men getting their lunch on and you may end up with a nub at the end of your hand. They are hungry. Of course they are kind and polite and let me in to grab sauce but they looked at me like I should have been wearing a straitjacket! Hey, forewarned is forearmed! (Without any bites taken out!)

The food was fantastic, and the staff terrific, my husband is health conscious, I asked a guy behind the buffet if they could make him baked chicken and he said no problem. They are very accommodating. The food is supper fresh and delicious, every other buffet looked like the food was sitting there. Overall great experience.

Very disappointed The fried food was good but vegetables were cold. Very limited salad bar and no desert to tempt us. My husband was so disappointed that they were out of ribs which was why we went. Price of $14 no drink included was not worth it.

  • Edward M.

There are no words to describe how fantastic everything on this buffet is. The stand out rock stars were the chicken and dumplings, fried oysters, cobbler and fried pork. Ringing in for only $9 for lunch, it can't be beat. We were the only non-locals there, so we knew it had to be good! The only thing missing was a hammock out back to sleep off the country feast. It's off the beaten path, and it's tucked away in what looks like someone's farmhouse, the service will make you feel like you're at home. Make sure you stop here and bring you appetite.

We went for the breakfast buffet, $6.50 per person. It was wonderful. Everyone there was extremely friendly and we would definitely go back. There was pulled pork, bacon, eggs, sausage, grits, sausage and gravy, stewed tomatoes, fruit, pudding, etc... I'm sure that I missed a few things. Go and try it!

  • Ron D.

It's is incredibly overrated. It's not even BBQ. They don't have a smoker. The chicken was deep fried and too salty There was no baby back ribs, brisket or sausage and what ribs they had,had little to no meat on them. Never again. I give you the price is great - but quite frankly I'll pay more to eat real BBQ not deep fried or baked imitation

  • steve l.

Oddly enough, I can't comment on the BBQ aspect, as we only ate breakfast here. They serve a breakfast buffet, or you can order off the breakfast menu. We chose the buffet, which was tasty, and at around 6 bucks, is one of the best food deals at the Inlet. This seems to be a gathering spot for some of the locals to sit, drink coffee, and tell fish stories, so if you're tired of the touristy spots, this is a good spot for you.

This place is great! After Googling whether or not there are any good BBQ restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area, I came across a bunch of great reviews for Prosser's. So I had to check it out. It's about a 15-minute drive south of the Myrtle Beach area, but it's well worth the commute. The buffet had soooooo many options, and it's easy on the wallet! And I gotta agree with everyone else...the hush puppies are amazing! If you're in the Myrtle Beach area, definitely check out Prosser's. And don't get scared if you see that the parking lot is totally filled up. When we got there, we almost left because we thought there was going to be a long wait. Despite the amount of people there, they sat us down within five minutes. They have a large dining area, so I can't imagine the wait ever gets too ridiculous.

This places food was par at best. Flat biscuits, nasty BBQ. Fish and chicken were great. The people working there were not friendly. And the lady who rang us up rolled her eyes. Save your money for McDonald's, at least your get par food with a smile.

This place is pretty amazing! The lunch buffet was only $7.50 a person at my first visit (it was since increased to $8.25, but it's still a steal at that price!). The buffet line includes pulled pork BBQ, fried fish, fried chicken, meatloaf, and many traditional Southern vegetables. The BBQ was pretty good. It's not the best I've ever had, but it was better than most, especially with the Carolina Gold (mustard-based) sauce. The fried chicken was heavenly, and there were even center breasts on the buffet line! Even though I'm from the South, I'd never had deep fried pork chops before... and they were SO GOOD! Truly, the best chops I've ever had! The veggies were what Southerners would expect. A good mac and cheese, green beans (didn't seem like they were from a can, although they probably were) well-seasoned with bacon grease, beans, peas, etc. My GF also loved their biscuits, which are unique (flat and buttery). The desserts looked good too, but I didn't try them as I simply could not eat another bite. I like this place so much I've been raving about it to friends back home, and even bought a Prosser's drink koozie!

People wonder why Americans are overweight - it might have something to do with Southern cuisine, especially that at Prosser's. LOVED this place. And you know it is good when the locals go there too. I went for my first time a couple nights ago, and being from NYC, I am already missing this place. This is not just BBQ, but Southern home-cooking. It is an all-you-can-eat buffet with so many Southern delights that it will make your head spin; chicken and dumplings, fried chicken, BBQ chicken and ribs, pulled pork, mac & cheese, collard greens, green beans, hush puppies, catfish, fried oysters, baked beans, and MORE... and the best banana pudding and PEACH COBBLER I have even had. I wish my stomach was bigger so I could have eaten more... yes, that is how good this place was. The waitress (I wish I remembered her name) was so friendly and made us feel like family. It is very affordable too. My only complaint, some of the food was only warm, not hot enough. But it still tasted great. I will definitely be going back when I return to Myrtle Beach. This place is special.

After hearing about this place from local friends and family, plus seeing the jam-packed parking lot several times, we decided to try this place out. They do have some meals and takeout, but we came on Saturday night for the dinner buffet, which costs $13 a person, including the drink. The buffet is mostly hot foods with a salad section as well. The proteins consisted of ribs, bbq chicken, fried chicken, and a bunch of different fried seafoods including fish, scallops, oysters and shrimp. As another reviewer mentioned, the bbq sauce is indeed a vinegar-based sauce, and I was not a fan...I prefer a sweeter, tomato-based sauce. The fried chicken reminded me of the frozen fried chicken my mother used to buy from Banquet in the grocery store. The seafood was pretty good, and I did enjoy eating fried oysters for the first time. Also, there was a chicken dumpling dish that I simply loved. There were plenty of fixins to go along with the meats, including several different kinds of beans, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, corn, green beans, collard greens, and hush puppies. The sweet potatoes were really good, and the brown sugar glaze on top was dead-on. The collard greens were also pretty good...I've tried them before and they were pretty bitter, but they were tasty here. I was not a fan of their mac & cheese, as it also reminded me of a frozen dinner quality. They also had a small dessert section including a hot peach cobbler (which was good), banana pudding (which was dynamite) and some other cakes and puddings that I didn't try. We did take a break between dinner and dessert to digest, and I was happy to find that the wait staff did not seem intent on rushing us out or anything. They were not exactly personable, but they got the job of keeping our drinks refilled without us needing to ask for such service. In the end, it was decent food for the $13 price tag. Unfortunately some of the food was hit and miss. Some things were delicious, while others reminded me of something that came in frozen, took a bath in the deep fryer, and then got plopped down on the hot tray. It didn't exactly make me think of home-made food, but it was better quality than you would find at most Chinese buffets.

Delicious. Absolutely delicious. BBQ was great, chicken and dumplins were great, Williamsburg sauce was great, peach cobbler was great, tea was great, prices were great. Everyone in my family left uncomfortably full.

Talk about pleasantly surprised! This place does not look like much from the outside (or inside for that matter) but the food is Top Notch old style southern fare. I've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and loved it! WARNING You will be able to hear your arteries slamming shut from all the fat! But that being said their blueberry pancakes are the best I've ever had and I could live (albeit briefly) on their pulled pork! This place is a winner!

  • Martin M.

Great value for your money. While a few of the items in the buffet are bland others, like the fried chicken and excellent fried greens, are very well done. Wide selection of food.....be warned, you will return for a second plate. Service was attentive and was always ready to refill a glass or remove a plate when needed. The interior is worn, but clean and parking is a breeze.

Go for the lunch buffet. As of 4/18/2008, it is $5.95 Mon-Sat and $6.95 on Sundays. BBQ is good if you like eastern style (vinegar based). Baked chicken is great. Lots of vegetable to choose from and a salad bar. I've had the lunch buffet both times that I've went there, and in my opinion, it's the best lunch buffet deal at the beach.

    (5)
  • Morgan T.

Wonderful, delicious Carolina style (vinegar based) ribs. Even my 2 year old could not get enough of them. Besides the ribs, the mac and cheese, fried chicken, oysters and sweet potato casserole were the other big winners. I wasn't impressed with the mashed potatoes, but they're mashed potatoes...a waste of plate space at a southern style buffet in my opinion. The banana pudding and red velvet cake were surprisingly very, very good. My husband said the lemon meringue pie was also delicious, but at this point I thought I was going to have to be rolled out the door do I didn't get to partake. Good food, family friendly environment, lots of good old southern hospitality, great prices and 2 minutes from the Marsh Walk (where you can start walking off some of those 5 thousand calories you just thoroughly enjoyed) what more can you ask for?

I read all the glowing reviews and let me tell you this place is way over rated. Yes, if you want cheap plentiful crappy food, by all means go. It is nothing less than a high school caf. I can honestly say not one offering is good. Great place for the ten and under crowd. I wish I could give negative stars. Just don't get how the place is always packed. If you are into over indulgence and high sodium this is the place for you.

  • Seth R.

First things first, this place is not BBQ. The only thing on the buffet that was halfway decent was the fried chicken. Even the cottage cheese was bad. Staff was on the rude side. Especially because my buddy and I went with our girlfriends and they didn't eat and everyone acted like we were cheating the system. Somehow this place was packed with locals but I can't figure out why.

  • Sara C.

Most of the reviews I read were pretty dead on. It was such a dive of a place, but a little disappointed that their seafood was all fried. And some food labels would have been nice too. But, otherwise, good home cooking for sure. Here are my takes on the food from the buffet: 1. Excellent Mac n Cheese 2. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant, but the sweet potatoes were awesome 3. Really is some of the best fried chicken ever 4. Fried shrimp and scallops also very good. 5. Rice with beans a little bland, but green beans right on 6. Collard greens a bit too vinegary for my taste, as well as the pork 7. Peach cobbler was good as other reviewers mentioned, and had chunks of pineapple in it. Other items I saw but did not try: 1. dirty rice 2. bbq gravy and other mystery gravy 3. fried fish 4. corn 5. banana pudding 6. chicken and dumplings 7. salad bar (mostly just iceberg lettuce with veggies)

This is a big local hangout. They have a buffet for $5.95. We had bad service. We never got our booster seat, waited about 25 minutes for our food (how long does a bbq sandwich and burgers take?) and the temperature in the restaurant was subzero. You know it's bad when there's a big sign that says PLEASE DO NOT READJUST THERMOSTAT CONDITION IS COOL FOR CERTAIN REASONS. The food was ok, but we got very sparse service. First we got the chicken fingers we ordered. Then about 5 minutes later we got our bbq pork sandwiches and hamburgers. Then about 10 minutes later we got our hush puppies and about 10 minutes we got our order of toast. Oh and my boys said the men's bathroom was icky. It must have been really bad for them to say it! The women's bathroom was brand new and very sparkly. So if you want some local flavor, this is a good place to visit, but don't be in a hurry!

Not sure why it's called BBQ but the buffet is outstanding. Fried chicken is some of the best I have had. Fish was wonderful and all the sides tasted great also. Friendly staff and good price.

Low country South Carolina cuisine at its best! Barbecue! The mustard based sauce is super spicy, but the Williamsburg Sauce is my persona favorite...sweet potato casserole and race was a very nice spin on my conception of barbecue

Incredible! Go for the dinner buffet, only offered Thursday-Saturday. Great southern home cookin' worth the drive from Myrtle Beach.

There really wasn't all that much bbq here unless I missed it? It is a SUPER cheap buffet. $8.50 per person.. really?! My favorite thing on the buffet was the cabbage. Yum! The staff were all super friendly! I would go just to try it!

Went to the dinner buffet. Very reasonably priced and included a sweet tea. It was nice to get away from the massive amount of chain restaurants at myrtle beach. I enjoyed the pulled pork very much. Chopped just enough to allow a good texture and the seasoning was perfect. The sauce was so good I actually went to the piggly wiggly at market commons and bought a couple bottles to bring home.

We eat here several times a week when we go to the beach every fall. You cannot beat the price and quality of food. They have some items on the buffet every day, and they rotate others. I remember deviled crab or crab cakes on Wednesdays (which I love). We eat the lunch buffet. Our fall visit comes in two days. I cannot wait!!!!!

My family and I ate dinner here recently during our October vacation to Myrtle Beach. I was looking so forward to great BBQ by the great reviews here on Yelp. I was disappointed. I think this place is overated. I was prepared for the place to be a dive, but it was worse than I expected. One thing that bothered me was that the padded wood chairs in the place were ripped and falling apart. They should at least replace the chairs. This was such a turn off. The small buffet was a little over priced and the food mediocre. I didn't care for the BBQ at all. It seemed boiled not smoked. Also, they didn't serve bread or buns for the BBQ. I think the best items were the fried oysters and hush puppies. The hush puppies were scarce on the buffet. They were in a tiny basket and they ran out immediately. There was a line of people waiting 15 minutes for them to be replenished and then they were gone in minutes. Dessert was unimpressive and in tiny portions. Not worth the calories. We opted to dine here instead of driving all the way to Conway for our favorite BBQ Rad-Dew's BBQ. Next time I'm driving to Conway.

Went for the lunch buffet while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. I thought the food was delicious. The standouts were the mac & cheese, pulled pork, and hush puppies. This place turned me into a hush puppy fiend because we don't get sweet hush puppies in Cali.

After driving all the way to Big D's BBQ Barn on SUNDAY and realizing that they are closed on SUNDAY we headed all the way back towards Murrells Inlet. I remembered a place I had breakfast at a couple years back and as I was leaving they were setting up a killer looking lunch buffet. That place was Prosser's. And the buffet didn't dissapoint. All 3 of us loved the food. Everything was great. Especially the collared greens and fried chicken. The service was great and the price was right at only $8.50. Even though restaurants being closed on Sunday is my #1 pet peeve, if big depressing BBQ barn wasn't closed we might have never found Prosser's.

Just back from dinner at Prossers BBQ. We arrived about 6:45 and were promptly seated. The place is not fancy, but there is plenty of seating. Our waitress took our drink orders then we headed for the buffet. The meats included fried chicken, fried fish, shrimp and oysters, baked chicken, chopped bbq and smoked sausage. Side dishes included green beans, collards, baked beans, pinto beans, sweet potato casserole, macaroni and cheese, chicken and dumplings, mashed potatoes dirty rice and hushpuppies. Desserts included peach cobbler (although there was nothing but pineapple), banana pudding and pound cake. There was also a salad bar with standard salad fare. There were no ribs on the buffet to our disappointment. Most of the food was pretty good including the fried chicken and fish, green beans, sweet potato casserole and hushpuppies. The rest of the sides were ok. The fried shrimp were pretty bland as were the rest of the sides. I still cant figure out if the cobbler was peach or pineapple. Definitely didnt like the pineapple. Did not enjoy the chopped bbq. Being in the south, I had high expectations for the sweet tea, but it was watered down and not very sweet. All in all, not a bad dinner. Total tab for 2 adults and 2 kids with drinks $36. If we were to visit again, it would probably be for lunch (only $7.50 vs. $12.95 for dinner).

Prosser's is so good that I shouldn't even be reviewing it. I want to keep it all to myself. I want to eat there every day until I become as big as a local. I hope you all stay away and there is never a wait. I don't even know where to start my song of praise. The food, excellent. The service, fast and friendly. The building, rustic. The clientele, local. The portions...well let's just say there's a reason that most of the clientele were of larger proportions. If I'm not mistaken, everything on the menu was under $10. A giant BBQ sandwich with fries, $4.75. A pile of BBQ, slaw, sweet potatoes, rice with gravy, and hush puppies, $5.50. A buffet that appeared to include every bit of heart clogging glory on the menu, $7.50 Basically, I'm ordering you to stop by if you are anywhere within a 100 mile radius of the place and then you are free to devour as much or little of this gem as you see fit. That first review has angered the food gods and as their messenger, I feel quite comfortable with telling you to ignore. She clearly suffers from dementia and is better suited to reviewing Sizzler, Cartoon Cutz, Gymboree, or some other meaningless token of suburbia. Act fast and gorge yourselves before the gods unleash Friedgen to consume your empty-bellied souls.

This place was really hyped up and now I see why - this place had an incredible selection of food for their buffet. Besides the southern classics (fried chicken, collard greens, mash potatoes, mac n cheese, etc...) they also had BBQ ribs, chicken, pulled pork, fried fish, crab bake, and fried oysters...i repeat, FRIED OYSTERS. Back home, we have to pay like $12 for a small plate of fried oysters and here we were heaping it on our plate. If you're mouth isn't dripping of saliva by now from hearing all this, you might need to go see a doctor. It was extremely delicious, the service was great, the sweet tea was great. The only drawback is that the buffet line is insanely long on busy nights. Other than that, its a great dining experience and a definite bang for your buck!

One of my favorite Buffets! I have never had a bad meal here. The lunch buffet is a good deal and they even had pulled pork on their breakfast buffet.

  • Sharon C.

Southern cooking at it's best. What it lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in simple deliciousness! This isn't a healthy lunch by any means...fried chicken, gravies of various kinds, fried fish, pork chops, frog legs, pork. Some mighty tasty collard greens and lima beans...yep! Sweet potato casserole. I didn't spend much time on the salad bar, but did enjoy the slaw! Peach cobbler and banana pudding ended our meal. And sweet tea as a part of the $9 lunch. Wow!

Prosser's Bar-B-Que Need a fix of some Southern Comfort Food... ....well look no further. This is a Murrells Inlet landmark. Served up family buffet style... lots of butter and grease,... but do your coronary arteries a favor.. eat here only once a month...LOL

This is a little hole in the wall place that a fisherman told us about at one of the piers in Myrtle Beach. He kept going on and on about the food, so we had to give it a try. Everything he said was spot on - this place was excellent! It is off of the beaten path, but well worth the drive. As soon as we walk into the restaurant, we are greeted at the door. Very nice touch! The chicken and dumplings were amazing and I liked the breaded pork chops as well. The hush puppies were also very tasty. There were a few things I did not get a chance to try (I filled up too fast :P), but my friends said the chicken was very good as well. The only negative we had was that this place closes after the lunch service (at 2), we were done eating and paying at the register a little after 2 and the cashier didn't seem to like that so much. The food more than made up for the cashier issue though. For $8.30 a plate, we couldn't go wrong. This was one of the best meals we had on our trip. We will make it a point to visit here again.

Yes it's a buffet, but everything is fresh and hot. I am a fried chicken snob and this is fried chicken perfection! Nice folks. Very reasonable. Note: hours are wrong on Yelp. They are open for dinner on week nights.

  • LaShelle D.

Was not impressed. Canned veggies, instant potatoes, dry mashed sweet potatoes. unseasoned vegetables, dry pulled pork. Scallops smaller than a dime! I am not exaggerating! Went on a busy Saturday night, so thinking that's as good as it gets. will not return. The best thing I had was water. Cheap eats, but not worth it IMO. BTW they no longer give free tea and the first thing you see when you get to the door is a sign saying beware they have had a lot of break ins in the parking lot. Really made a relaxing start to our meal.

Living in South Carolina my whole life I love southern cooking. It is really hard to find a great BBQ place but my wife and I stumbled across Prosser's BBQ and it was just wonderful. Surrounded by old oak trees and filled with southern hospitality with a fabulous buffet. There was wonderful fried chicken and moist tasty BBQ. Really good chicken and rice perlo, warm tasty yams, collard greens, fried fish and yummy hush puppies to name just a few. Oh and the desserts! I made a few trips, yes I did. No matter where you are from or what your taste is, you can definitely find something good to eat here. This is definitely a place to try something new. Everything is cooked just right and you can't beat the price. When we visit Myrtle Beach in the future we will be back.

Oh my gosh...we walked onto Prosser's looking for a barbecue sandwich and were met with the most incredible buffet of homemade southern standards such as fried chicken, barbecue chicken, chicken and dumplings, pulled pork, fried flounder, clams, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes, green beans, butter beans, salads, desserts and more!! There were four in our group and between us I think we had everything on the buffet bar. Not one thing disappointed us. With so much seafood to be had in this area it was a great surprise to come across this pure southern cooking at Prosser's.

    (5)
  • Kevin S.

You can beat the price of the seafood buffet! Food is great and quality is great! No legs but the fried selection is plentiful! The thing I like best is that shrimp taste like shrimp and the flounder taste like flounder! Unlike other buffets on the beach! it is always a must eat while at the beach for my family! This is a down home cooking place!

Ok, I am not a fan of Bar-B-Que, but David likes it... so I figured that I could find something on the menu like grilled chicken. But, when we walked in the door, I almost turned around and walked out. The main draw here is a ginormous buffet. I am not a fan of buffets...ever. Bah! But, we were hungry and had no other ideas, so I went to check out what was on the buffet before we made a decision. After checking it out, I decided that I could deal with this buffet. So, for lunch on a Saturday, the buffet was $8 or $9 including a drink. They had a big selection of meats for people who don't like bar-b-que including baked chicken, fried chicken, fried flounder, fried clam-strips, etc. They also had a huge selection of home-style veggies, mac & cheese, rice, mashed potatoes, etc. In addition, the salad bar was pretty well apppointed. Honestly, the food was much better than I expected - especially given my low opinion of buffets in general. For a super casual, affordable quick meal, I would go back.

This place is the real deal. We hustled down here from Myrtle Beach to beat the 2:00 PM closing time and it was well worth it. Service is typical barbecue buffet and it's a full buffet. Highlights are the collard greens, fried chicken, pulled pork (use the traditional sauce), sweet potatoes and, OMG the hush puppies are unbelievable. Many of the reviews rave about the mac & cheese. I found them to be OK but not a rave. You know what, thinking about it, let me go back to those sweet potatoes. They may be the best damn sweet potatoes I've ever eaten in my life. Service is five star from the time you walk into the time you leave. Staff is friendly accommodating and always smiling - just what we imagine when you think about southern hospitality. It's time to go up and try the desserts now. Maybe I'll write more later.

We missed an opportunity to come here last year when we visited, but finally had a chance this year, and came twice the food was so good! It's not a fancy place by any means, so come casual. If you want home cooked taste, Prosser's is the place!

Probably the best meal so far while in myrtle beach. Well worth the drive. I'm hoping to make it there for breakfast before I go. Their lunch buffet was awesome. These and cheese, fried flounder, hush puppies and pulled pork were outstanding. Everything was mouth watering and at a great price. Great service from my waitress too.

Lunch Review : I rarely give out 5-stars but the food in this place deserves it. We came here for lunch and every single item was fabulous!!! It is a true Southern buffet, I wouldn't dare call it a "BBQ Joint". Instead of a buffet covered in standard BBQ fare like ribs, brisket, and baked potatoes; the selection is true Southern fried this and that, greens, rice and bean options, great desserts, and more. I am pleased to say that the actual selection is rather small for a buffet, but I'd much prefer a small set of choices that are all rather excellent than an endless choice of mediocre food where I waste my time walking in circles trying to decide what might actually be worth it. All in all, it deserves to be highly recommended.

Awesome food and I typically hate these types of places. Yes it's fried but it's all home cooked and the place is affordable and clean with quality food. We were taken here by my uncle who lives in the area. It's pretty busy and I know why! Hidden gem :) kinds loved it too. Staff could not have been more friendly and for the most part it is clean. Only thing that could use some updating is the restrooms.

Plain and simple southern country cooking, with seafood selections. This is by far one of my favorite belt loosing restaurants. It's a place I come to when I want to get my "fix" on......everything on the buffet is fresh and delicious. You cannot go wrong by choosing this absolutely gem of a country buffet.....however if your pants don't fit leaving...do not blame me !!!!

Great buffet for southern food. BBQ was excellent, just needed sweet sauce as an option. Pineapple cobbler, Mac & Cheese, Turnip a Greens were top shelf quality. Catfish, Tilapia, Chicken & Dumplings where all very very good as well. Glad I came here instead of those 100 item buffets on hwy 17. The staff was genuinely nice. It seemed like they love interacting with the people that eat there. Definitely coming back now that I know it's here.

The wife and I went there for lunch today for the first time. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. We had the buffet and found that it was huge! With almost any kind of meat or vegetable that you could want and it all tasted so good. I would highly recommend to anyone to try there for lunch or even dinner. The lunch buffet was priced at only nine dollars which included beverage.

Prossers gets 5 stars from our family based solely on its southern-fried, home-cooking menu. If you're looking for something healthy, this ain't it so don't say you weren't forewarned ahead of time and give them a low rating. It is what it is. We eat here once a year and pretty much everything is good - homemade Mac and cheese, collards, sweet potato casserole, crispy fried chicken (that looks like it must be hand cut), calabash style seafood, banana pudding, and a lot more I'm forgetting. Best of all, a drink comes with the buffet which is almost unheard of. I'm glad we don't live here because I'm not sure my waistline could handle eating like this on a regular basis, but it sure is good.

Excellent barbecue buffet. Fried chicken is about the best I ever had. Pulled pork was delicious - I did get an extra portion of the sauce, as the server told me the pulled pork was lightly seasoned. I do have a very sensitive stomach and that extra barbecue sauce I could have done without. Mac and cheese, was a bit bland for me, I prefer mine with extra sharp cheddar cheese. Hush puppies were yummy. Chicken bog was a bit mild, but good. That was about all I could fit on my plate and in my stomach. The cashier was polite and efficient. I don't generally go to buffets, but to have a server scoop my food for me was annoying. Does he think I'm going to steal it?? Especially when I already paid? I felt very, very uncomfortable, as I can clearly serve myself and not have to wait ten minutes for him to show, and then back the line up. I don't like the feeling of asking permission for this or that, I'm just too dang old. With that one complaint, the food is plentiful and the price is right $12.00 for a take home platter. Lots of parking and convenient to get to.

Lots of food for the price. We were here for lunch today around 12:30, and it was busy as expected. Paid $9 a person, which is just fine. We tried most of the items available on the buffet, and things seemed to be pretty hit or miss. Good: BBQ (vinegar based and yummy), sweet potatoes, biscuits, collard greens Blah: mashed potatoes (instant?), Mac and cheese, chicken and dumplings, fried chicken (dry) Nothing we had was bad, but a lot of the items taste canned/instant. Growing up in a family of great southern cooks may have spoiled me! At least give their greens and BBQ a try- they were the highlight of the meal.

If you're a fan of barbecue I suggest you visit this establishment. There is plenty of good food there to eat with hush puppies BBQ all the requisite food that has to do with Southern BBQ cuisine. Also if you would rather just go on the other side of the buffet line you can get sea food and al the cuisine including pinto beans macaroni and cheese cornbread all the things that you love, and if you love soul food, they serve good! So if you decide that you want to go on have a good barbecue you can go and be rest assured that you will have great BBQ... it is really good, moist, tender and they have a couple sauces too... and believe me do not eat the day before you go because it is very very filling... so enjoy it go to this restaurant have a good time eat lots of BBQ and tell them Ivy leaf film productions sent you.

Wow!

First things first, this place is not BBQ. The only thing on the buffet that was halfway decent was the fried chicken. Even the cottage cheese was bad. Staff was on the rude side. Especially because my buddy and I went with our girlfriends and they didn't eat and everyone acted like we were cheating the system. Somehow this place was packed with locals but I can't figure out why.

Fantastic food. Beware that the address above is wrong. It's on the Business Hwy 17 that runs parallel to Hwy 17. Took forever to figure this out but it was worth the effort.

Went for the lunch buffet while on vacation in Myrtle Beach. I thought the food was delicious. The standouts were the mac & cheese, pulled pork, and hush puppies. This place turned me into a hush puppy fiend because we don't get sweet hush puppies in Cali.
